Chelsea make 'official enquiry' to sign Real Madrid's next Galactico
Chelsea have made an 'official enquiry' for Como superstar Nico Paz in a bid to beat Real Madrid to his signature, according to a report.
The Argentine youngster has emerged as the biggest talent in Serie A since joining exciting upstarts Como from Real Madrid last year. Paz is quickly becoming one of the continent's most sought-after players.
The likes of Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham have all been linked with a move for Paz in recent weeks and months. In the summer, Spurs told Como that they would be willing to pay north of €70 million for the attacking midfielder.
However, this approach was firmly rejected by Como, Paz and Real Madrid. The latter still retain full control over the 21-year-old's future as they not only have a sell-on clause but also several buy-back clauses.
It has been widely reported that Real Madrid will bring Paz back to the club in 2026 after opting not to utilise their first buy-back option this summer. However, Los Blancos already have a host of talented players in his position, which is why some believe that they won't re-sign him.
Chelsea make Paz approach
Como's sporting director has also given Paz's suitors hope that a move to Real Madrid is not a foregone conclusion. He recently claimed that the prodigy could be sold to the highest bidder if he were attracted by the project on offer.
This has seemingly emboldened Chelsea to make their move. According to CaughtOffside, the Blues have now made an 'official enquiry' about Paz's potential availability next year.
It is unclear what kind of response, if any, the Stamford Bridge club received from their Serie A counterparts. Como, for their part, are not desperate to sell Paz.
On the contrary, Como don't need the money and want to hold on to their biggest talents to turn the club into a 'premium football tourism destination' for the millions of people that visit Lake Como annually.
At this point, it is unclear what exactly the future will hold for Paz. What is clear, however, is that even if Como were to sell him to Chelsea or any other Premier League admirer, the 21-year-old wonderkid won't come cheap.
Paz has been touted as Real Madrid's 'next Galactico' due to his enviable talent, so Como are likely to demand around €100 million for him if they are to cash in on him.
