Chelsea Transfer News Today: Lamine Camara truth as Fabrizio Romano reveals top target
All the latest Chelsea transfer news in one place, including updates on Lamine Camara, Alex Scott and Gessime Yassine.
No truth in fresh Camara links
Chelsea are no longer involved in the race to sign AS Monaco midfielder Lamine Camara, Fabrizio Romano understands.
The Blues were on the verge of signing the Senegal international in a €55 million deal on Deadline Day, but Monaco pulled the plug at the last minute under the assumption that they would sell Folarin Balogun to Everton instead, which ultimately didn't happen.
Chelsea viewed this behaviour as deeply unprofessional. Despite the strained relationship between the two clubs, reports have repeatedly claimed that the Blues could revisit the deal in January or the summer. However, Romano insists that there is radio silence between the clubs.
"Chelsea were furious," Romano said. "The situation became very tense. Since that moment, Chelsea have disappeared from the Lamine Camara story."
Scott a top target
Instead of Camara, Chelsea are likely to pursue the signing of Bournemouth midfielder Alex Scott, Romano adds.
The England star was already a top target for the West London side in the summer, and they remain in contact with his entourage. Bournemouth could sell in January under the right circumstances, but they are not actively putting Scott on the market.
Chelsea are very interested in the player," Romano explained. "Chelsea have had several contacts with his agents. Chelsea considered Alex Scott their top target in midfield over the summer, and it was not possible to proceed, but Chelsea loved the player. So, Chelsea are still there."
Chelsea to sign Yassine
Chelsea "fully intend" to eventually sign Strasbourg winger Gessime Yassine, TEAMtalk claims.
The Morocco international joined the BlueCo club from Dunkerque in January and is increasingly making a name for himself. He is attracting Premier League interest, but Chelsea's clear plan is to keep him in their orbit and to eventually welcome him to Stamford Bridge.
Former Chelsea goalkeeper coach Christophe Lollichon, now at Dunkerque, said last week that the Blues had "practically" already signed Yassine. It is currently not clear if he will move to West London next year or at a later date.
Wirtz wouldn't consider Chelsea move
Under-fire Liverpool playmaker Florian Wirtz is keen to leave the Premier League, according to Didi Hamann.
The Germany international has struggled to live up to his €125m price tag since joining the Reds last year, which has sparked transfer speculation involving Chelsea and his former Bayer Leverkusen boss Xabi Alonso. However, a move to Stamford Bridge is highly unlikely.
"I know how talented he is and what he is capable of, but I think he has lost all faith and belief in his abilities," Hamann said. "I don't think he believes he can cut it in the Premier League. I don't see it happening for Wirtz at Liverpool."
Estevao has to go out on loan
Chelsea youngster Estevao has been urged to leave the club on loan by former Blues winger Scott Sinclair.
The Brazil international is struggling for minutes under Alonso this season. Chelsea would be willing to hand the 19-year-old an improved contract, but it has been claimed that Estevao could look to leave the club if his game time does not increase.
Having been in a similar position during his youth, Sinclair has urged Estevao to look for a club where he is guaranteed minutes. "In my experience, having been on loan six times during my spell at Chelsea, you just want to be playing for your parent club," Sinclair stated.
"But when you aren’t, you have to go out on loan to gain experience and game time. The longer you go without playing, the less match-fit you become, which makes it even harder to get into the side when an opportunity arises and that leads to doubt."
