The 23-year-old’s current deal at Villa Park is due to expire in 2030 and Aston Villa are eager to reward him with a fresh contract following his immense form since his arrival from Middlesbrough.

Rogers has registered 37 goal contributions in 84 appearances for Villa and his form has attracted substantial transfer interest from across the Premier League, with Chelsea among the clubs eager to sign him.

The Blues were unable to finalise a deal this summer, however reports have suggested that he is among their transfer targets for next year, with rumours of a €100 million transfer being speculated in recent weeks.

Despite this, Rogers could become the next Aston Villa star to put pen to paper on a new contract at the club, according to Fabrizio Romano, who has confirmed that a deal is on the cards.

Morgan Rogers unlikely to join Chelsea

In his latest YouTube video, Romano added: “There will be movement soon regarding Morgan Rogers’ contract. During the summer, both Chelsea and Tottenham showed strong interest, but Aston Villa refused to sell and considered him untouchable.

“Villa have recently extended the contracts of Matty Cash and John McGinn, and Rogers is next on the list. Talks with his representatives are ongoing, aiming to improve his salary and secure his future.

“While negotiations are not yet advanced, a January move is very unlikely - Aston Villa want to keep their key players.”

Chelsea had been tipped to pursue a deal next summer, although they may be forced to target an alternative option amid their bid to sign a suitable back-up option to Cole Palmer.
