Chelsea reportedly have no intention of allowing Filip Jorgensen to leave the club during the January transfer window, despite his desire to secure an exit.

The 23-year-old moved to Stamford Bridge from Villarreal for a fee of €24.5 million last summer, but he has been unable to oust Robert Sanchez since his arrival and he has only made four first-team appearances so far this season.

Jorgensen featured prominently in the Europa Conference League last term, however his involvement has decreased following Chelsea’s qualification for the Champions League and he has now asked to leave the club in January.

That is according to transfer news expert Fabrizio Romano, who claims that Jorgensen is open to a “new chapter” as he searches for more regular game time during the second half of the season.

Furthermore, BBC Sport have confirmed that Jorgensen has been told he could become Denmark’s starting goalkeeper at the 2026 World Cup if he plays consistently ahead of the tournament.

The Chelsea star has only made one senior appearance for the Denmark national team, but the form of Mads Hermansen and Kasper Schmeichel means he could be in line to play a key role at the next World Cup if Denmark qualify.

Chelsea make Filip Jorgensen transfer decision

Although Jorgensen wants to leave Chelsea during the upcoming January transfer window, the Blues have no intention of sanctioning a loan departure, as per Ben Jacobs.

The Denmark international still has five-and-a-half years remaining on his current contract at Stamford Bridge and he is therefore in a difficult position to negotiate an exit if Chelsea want to keep him.

A summer transfer could potentially be on the cards, however, with highly-rated youngster Mike Penders set to return from his loan spell at sister club Strasbourg once the 2025-26 season draws to a close.
