Fabrizio Romano drops Chelsea BOMB: January transfer in the works
Chelsea goalkeeper Filip Jorgensen is unhappy with his playing time and is looking to leave in January, according to Fabrizio Romano.
The Denmark international joined the Blues in the summer of 2024 after impressing in LaLiga with Villarreal, but he has found regular opportunities hard to come by at Stamford Bridge.
Head coach Enzo Maresca has, for better or worse, shown unwavering faith in error-prone No.1 Robert Sanchez, which, in turn, influenced Jorgensen's confidence as he, too, began making mistakes when afforded rare chances to impress.
So far, Jorgensen has made just four appearances this season, two of them coming in the Carabao Cup. His sole Premier League outing was against Man Utd after Sanchez was shown a red card five minutes into the game.
Sanchez was only given a one-match ban and was able to return the following week after simply sitting out Chelsea's Carabao Cup clash with Lincoln City, depriving Jorgensen of more high-profile game time.
Jorgensen looking for January exit
According to transfer insider Fabrizio Romano, the 23-year-old has had enough and is mulling over a potential January exit in a bid to get minutes under his belt and force his way into Denmark's starting XI ahead of 39-year-old Kasper Schmeichel for their World Cup playoff in March.
"Filip Jorgensen, together with his agents, is considering to leave Chelsea already in the January transfer window," Romano said on his YouTube channel.
"Jorgensen respects Chelsea's strategy, respects also what Enzo Maresca and his staff are deciding, but at the same time, while he's a very good professional, a very serious boy and not just a very good goalkeeper, Jorgensen wants to play.
"Jorgensen believes that this is an opportunity for him to go find the right chance, to go and play. He wants to play, he needs to play. There is a World Cup incoming.
Obviously, Denmark will have to fight for their spot, but Jorgensen believes that playing on a regular basis is something too important for his career for club and country."
