Agent Saka! Arsenal superstar gives 'glowing reference' for €56m signing
Arsenal superstar Bukayo Saka reportedly gave a “glowing reference” when asked about the possibility of signing Noni Madueke this summer.
Madueke, 23, completed a €56 million move to the Emirates Stadium in July, but his arrival was met with heavy criticism from Gunners supporters.
Fans protested against the signing of the England international before confirmation of his transfer, with #NoToMadueke even going viral on social media, however the winger has impressed since joining the club from Chelsea.
The 23-year-old only has one goal contribution in nine matches for Arsenal, courtesy of his strike versus Bayern Munich in the Champions League on Wednesday night, but his dynamism and dribbling prowess has added an extra dimension to the Gunners’ attack.
Furthermore, Madueke’s arrival means Arsenal now have a suitable back-up to the aforementioned Saka, which was a major issue last term.
In fact, Madueke’s international team-mate played a key role in his summer move to north London.
That is according to The Evening Standard, who state that Saka gave Mikel Arteta a “glowing reference” after being asked for his opinion on whether Arsenal should pursue a transfer this summer.
Mikel Arteta responds to Noni Madueke criticism
When asked about the initial opposition the club faced after signing Madueke, Arteta recently told reporters: “If anything it gave me more conviction and more will to help him, and do everything we possibly could to make his relationship work and to prepare everything around him in the best possible way.
“I think that lasted a short period of time and immediately we had complete the opposite reaction which I think he valued, respected and it was like fuel to him.”
Meanwhile, Madueke delivered a similar message after scoring his first Arsenal goal on Wednesday.
“You are in the public eye - people can say whatever they want about you,” the England star said. “But being in the stadium, and how the fans have taken to me in the stadium, is unbelievable.”
