Chelsea have been told their forward line has become “formidable” after pairing summer signing Morgan Rogers with Cole Palmer.

The Blues fought off competition from Arsenal to sign Rogers from Aston Villa for a club-record fee of €138million (£137m) in July.

Rogers became the most expensive British player in history after putting pen to paper on a six-year contract at Stamford Bridge.

And the England international has shone for Chelsea in the opening weeks of the new season, recording three goals and four assists in seven games.

Moving to Chelsea has reunited Rogers with close friend Palmer, with the duo having played together in Manchester City’s youth setup back in the day.

One man who is enamoured with their telepathic relationship is Carlton Cole, with the former Chelsea striker saying their “banter” adds energy to the changing room.

In an interview with LiveScore Bet via GOAL, Cole - who represented Chelsea between 2001 and 2006 - said: “Their forward line is formidable. It's probably one of the best in the Premier League if you're going to look at it man-to-man on paper.

“You look at Morgan, he’s come in, I think he's a Chelsea fan as well from when he was young, and he's there with his mate, Cole Palmer, they've grown up knowing each other and playing with each other and understanding each other's game.

Rogers and Palmer involved in hilarious post-Leeds interview

In a hilarious interview with Sky Sports after the League Cup win over Leeds United, Rogers was astonished to discover Palmer had pipped him to Man of the Match gong.

Rogers registered three official assists in the 6-3 thriller with Leeds but was overlooked for the award after Palmer sparked Chelsea’s comeback with two second-half goals.

However, Chelsea failed to win either of the two games that followed their victory over Leeds, drawing 2-2 with Hull City before suffering a 3-0 loss at Brentford.

Palmer, Rogers and Chelsea will look to return to winning ways when they entertain Bournemouth on Saturday, 10 October following the International break.

Rogers has joined up with England ahead of their Nations League clash with Spain on Saturday, whereas Palmer withdrew from the squad with a minor injury.
