Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim is reportedly eager to sign an experienced striker during the January transfer window to ease the pressure on summer signing Benjamin Sesko.

The Slovenia international arrived at Old Trafford from RB Leipzig for a whopping €76.5 million in August and he has notched two goals in nine matches across all competitions since his move to the Red Devils.

Recent reports have speculated that Man Utd could be set to target a surprise move for Real Madrid youngster Endrick during the January transfer window, amid his lack of game time under Xabi Alonso, but TEAMtalk claim that Amorim is instead eager to land a more experienced option to rotate with Sesko.

Joshua Zirkzee has been tipped to leave Old Trafford in January, as he searches for regular football ahead of the 2026 World Cup, and Amorim reportedly wants to sign an older striker to replace the Dutchman.

Man Utd have largely targeted a younger profile of player over the past few years, however Amorim believes an experienced option is instead needed to provide cover for Sesko.

Man Utd sent Benjamin Sesko message

Although Man Utd are reportedly eager to sign an experienced striker in January, former Red Devils star Dwight Yorke believes the club should ensure they still prioritise Sesko’s game time.

Speaking after the Slovenia international was named on the substitutes bench versus Liverpool on Sunday, Yorke told the MEN: “One of the narratives for any coach is that you want to create a team that is competitive on all fronts.

“From front to back you want two players in every position competing so that way you keep the level high.

“Sesko for me is as good as a striker they have had for a number of years and I feel like you have to trust him and have to believe in him to get the best out of him. With any good player, you want a reaction from him when they have been... 'resting' is the word they tend to use now, not dropped, but you need a reaction from that.

“Ultimately it is all about the team and winning but you want a player of that calibre and that kind of fee, to be playing 90% of the games. That is the only way that he is going to get better, get the pace of the Premier League.”
