Chelsea face unexpected €100m transfer hijack
Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly joined the race to sign FC Porto striker Samu Aghehowa amid his immense start to the 2025-26 season.
The Spain international, who joined Porto last summer after his proposed move to Chelsea collapsed, has scored eight goals in nine games across all competitions so far this campaign, and Spurs are now closely monitoring his development.
That is according to TBR Football, who claim that Aghehowa has been added to the north London club’s transfer wishlist.
Fabio Paratici has returned to Tottenham as sporting director after a 30-month footballing ban for alleged false accounting during his time at previous club Juventus, and he is said to be an “avid admirer” of Aghehowa.
The 21-year-old’s current contract at Porto includes a €100 million release clause, however TBR Football believe he will be available for a far cheaper transfer fee due to the Portuguese club’s current financial position.
Dusan Vlahovic also reportedly remains a target for Tottenham, however they are keeping close tabs on Aghehowa’s progress at Porto as they eye a potential deal in 2026.
Thomas Frank already has Dominic Solanke, Richarlison, Randal Kolo Muani and Mathys Tel as centre forward options at his disposal, however Spurs remain eager to bolster their attacking roster amid their desire to establish themselves as Champions League regulars.
Samu Aghehowa transfer interest
Aston Villa and Newcastle United were both interested in signing Aghehowa over the summer, but the former eventually opted to sign Evann Guessand instead, while the latter purchased Nick Woltemade and Yoane Wissa for a combined price of €132.7m.
However, Tottenham are still expected to face competition for the Spaniard’s signature in 2026, with reports suggesting that Chelsea are set to rekindle their interest, despite the imminent arrival of Emanuel Emegha from Strasbourg.
The Blues have been without summer signing Liam Delap for the majority of the season due to a hamstring injury, and they have re-emerged as possible candidates to acquire Aghehowa, as per Spanish outlet Fichajes.
