Chelsea launch new striker chase amid Joao Pedro's dip in form
Chelsea have “entered the bidding” to sign Palmeiras striker Vitor Roque, according to reports in Spain.
Enzo Maresca’s side have already confirmed that Strasbourg centre forward Emanuel Emegha will arrive at the club next summer, however they remain interested in landing another option.
That is according to Spanish outlet Fichajes, who claim that Roque has been identified as a possible target for the upcoming January transfer window.
The Brazilian has scored 17 goals in 46 games since arriving at Palmeiras in February and his form so far this calendar year has reportedly caught the attention of Chelsea scouts.
Roque endured a tough spell at Barcelona following his move to the club in January 2024, however he impressed on loan at Real Betis during the first half of last season and he has rediscovered his goalscoring touch since returning to Brazil earlier this year.
Tottenham Hotspur are also monitoring Roque and are reportedly exploring the possibility of signing him in 2026 as they look to bolster the first-team squad available to Thomas Frank.
Chelsea chase Vitor Roque deal
Chelsea’s interest in Roque comes amid Joao Pedro’s downturn in form over the past few weeks.
The 24-year-old enjoyed an immense start to life at Chelsea, following his arrival from Brighton & Hove Albion, however he is without a goal in his last seven appearances for the Blues, and Liam Delap’s imminent return from a hamstring injury will come as welcome news to Maresca.
Marc Guiu netted his first goal of the campaign against Ajax on Wednesday, although Maresca is yet to hand the Spaniard a start in the Premier League this term and rumours have suggested that he could potentially rejoin Sunderland on loan in January once Delap is back to full fitness.
In addition to Roque, Chelsea are also keeping close tabs on the development of FC Porto striker Samu Aghehowa, as per reports. The Spain international was on the verge of moving to Stamford Bridge last summer, and the club have reportedly rekindled their interest in his signature.
