BlueCo club Strasbourg are interested in signing Brentford attacker Fabio Carvalho after his vital goal against Chelsea last month, according to a report.

The Portugal youth international has endured a few difficult years since breaking through at Fulham. Carvalho joined Liverpool for €9.4 million in 2022, but struggled to assert himself in the Reds' star-studded team.

He was sent on loan to RB Leipzig in the summer of 2023, but quickly became a forgotten man in the Bundesliga, prompting the Anfield club to cut his stint short after just six months.

He subsequently joined Hull City in the Championship and managed to impress, scoring nine times in 20 appearances. However, the 23-year-old again struggled when he returned to Liverpool.

Despite this, the reigning Premier League champions managed to make a handsome profit on Carvalho when they sold him to Brentford for €23.4m over the winter.

Strasbourg still keen on Carvalho

At the time, Carvalho also fielded interest from BlueCo-owned Strasbourg, but the Bees ultimately won out. According to Sky Sports, the appreciation from Chelsea's owners remains, and they could look to revisit a deal for Carvalho next year.

Brentford categorically refused to sell the versatile attacker in the summer, but his lack of minutes so far this term has raised doubts about his future with the London club.

Ironically, Carvalho scored against Chelsea in mid-September to salvage a point for Brentford in a 2-2 draw after coming on as a substitute. In addition to the Blues' sister club Strasbourg, he is also receiving interest from Lyon and Stuttgart.

Brentford boss Keith Andrews insisted after the Chelsea game that Carvalho can become a 'big player' for the club, but he has only handed him four minutes of Premier League action since.

Given the significant outlay on him, Brentford will surely demand a sizeable fee if they are to offload him in January or next summer. He is still under contract until 2029.
