Transfer insider tips Guehi for shock move after ‘decision made’
Marc Guehi has made a decision over his future that is “not going to change”, with a transfer insider tipping the Crystal Palace star to make a surprise transfer next summer.
Guehi will be a free agent when his contract at Selhurst Park expires at the end of June, and a string of major clubs are interested in signing him.
Liverpool came close to landing the 25-year-old in the summer only for the move to break down on Deadline Day, while Chelsea have been increasingly linked with a dramatic hijack attempt.
Interest also comes from abroad, with the likes of Barcelona, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich all eager to snap the centre-back up in a bargain deal.
Fabrizio Romano has reiterated that Guehi is leaving Palace, it’s just a matter of picking his destination.
“At the end of the season, Guehi will leave on a free transfer. That decision is not going to change,” he said.
Who will Guehi sign for?
Sky Sports chief transfer correspondent Kaveh Solhekol believes that Guehi will not join Liverpool but is instead destined to move abroad.
“If I had to put money on it, I would say he's going to end up next summer playing for Real Madrid or Barcelona,” he explained.
“I think clubs like Real Madrid and Barcelona now have an advantage because they can sign a pre-contract agreement with him in January, which Premier League clubs obviously can't do.
“So Premier League clubs will have to wait until next summer if they want to sign him on a free.
“Premier League clubs could make Crystal Palace a big offer for him in January. But how big would it be considering he's going to be a free agent in the summer?
“Speaking to some people at other Premier League clubs, they're telling me the feeling is that Real Madrid and Barcelona and Bayern Munich are all interested in signing him, and they definitely will have the advantage.”
It appears that Liverpool may have missed their opening to sign Guehi after the summer deal fell through.
While this was a blow to the centre-back, the Reds were “laid back” about the situation, according to Solhekol.
“The reason he didn't end up at Liverpool is that Liverpool didn't go all out to get him. If they really, really wanted him, they could've moved much earlier to get him,” he claims.
Guehi is now set to leave Palace for free, with the England star seemingly having his pick of clubs next summer.
