Mo Salah singles out departed Liverpool star for praise: You’ll do big things

Liverpool legend Mo Salah has tipped a former Anfield star for a massive future after leaving the club this summer.
While Liverpool caught the headlines by making a record spend on the transfer market, notably setting a British transfer record by signing Alexander Isak from Newcastle United, the Anfield club also allowed several fan favourites to leave.
Darwin Nunez and Luis Diaz were among those to depart Merseyside for big-money fees, but Salah has singled out Harvey Elliott as deserving of particular praise.

The 22-year-old has joined Aston Villa initially on loan, but there is an obligation to buy in the agreement worth €40.5 million. Liverpool retain a buy-back clause for Elliott, just as they do for many of the young stars they allowed to depart in the summer, and from Salah’s words, the Egypt international would not be surprised to see the creative midfielder back at Anfield in the future.
“You’ll be remembered for your loyalty and dedication every time you were called upon. You leave as a champion, and I’ve got no doubt you’ll do big things at your new club. They are lucky to have you,” Salah said on X.
Villa are set to pay a good price for Elliott given that his Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) is €39m. The former Fulham youth, though, has seen his value approach €50m in the past, and should he get regular game time under Unai Emery, as seems likely, he is likely to get back to that level.
Salah praises ‘champions’
Salah has been fiercely defensive of the Liverpool stars who have departed in the summer.
The attacker was angered at what he thought was ‘disrespect’ to Luis Diaz and Nunez by a fan account on X.
Quoting the original tweet, he said: “How about we celebrate the great signings without disrespecting the PL champions?”
Now Elliott is the latest former Liverpool star to be praised by Salah, with the youngster tipped for a bright future at Aston Villa.
