Man Utd will pay an initial transfer fee of €21 million, plus add-ons, while the Belgian shot-stopper will sign a five-year contract at the club, according to Ornstein.

Lammens has been linked with a move to Man Utd for several weeks and the Red Devils have now reached a full agreement to bring him to the club, despite late interest from Aston Villa.

Unai Emery’s side were touted as possible suitors for Lammens during the early hours of Transfer Deadline Day, with the club searching for a potential replacement for Emiliano Martinez.

The Argentina international agreed personal terms with Man Utd over the weekend and he was excluded from Villa’s matchday squad to face Crystal Palace on Sunday evening after informing the club of his desire to join Man Utd.

However, the Red Devils have decided to purchase Lammens instead, and he is now travelling to Manchester to undergo his medical and finalise the transfer before the summer window slams suit at 19:00 BST.

Altay Bayindir has been Man Utd’s preferred goalkeeper in their opening three Premier League fixtures of the new season, but he has struggled in between the sticks, particularly when defending corners.

Andre Onana has also endured a torrid start to the season and he played a key role in the club’s shocking defeat to Grimsby Town in the Carabao Cup second-round last week.

Lammens is expected to become Man Utd’s new first-choice goalkeeper once his arrival is confirmed, with the 23-year-old joining the club after winning Royal Antwerp’s Player of the Year award last season.
