Fabrizio Romano drops MIND-BLOWING Andre Onana update after Man Utd exit
Manchester United outcast Andre Onana will be among the top earners in the Turkish Super Lig during his loan at Trabzonspor, according to Fabrizio Romano.
The Cameroon international officially left Old Trafford for Trabzon on Thursday, joining the Turkish club on a season-long loan after losing his place at Man Utd.
Onana was dropped for Altay Bayindir by Ruben Amorim, and his position became untenable when Senne Lammens joined the Red Devils on Deadline Day.
Faced with an entire season on the bench or in the stands, Onana accepted Trabzonspor's offer, and in truth, he would have been foolish not to jump at the chance to join the Super Lig outfit.
That is because Trabzonspor will not only cover the entirety of his salary, but they will also pay him bonuses, and he received a signing-on fee for joining the club.
Onana among Super Lig's five highest earners
It has been known for some time that Onana would be able to earn more at Trabzonspor than at Man Utd, but Fabrizio Romano has now revealed that he will actually be among the Super Lig's best-paid players.
Despite his poor performances for Man Utd, the goalkeeper is thought to be the Turkish top flight's fifth biggest earner, if data provided by Capology is to be believed.
Onana reportedly receives a net annual salary of €5.75 million with an additional €3.85m available in bonuses. Should all add-ons be triggered, the Cameroon international would earn €9.6m during his stint at Trabzonspor.
Surprisingly, the top earner in the Super Lig is Fenerbahce striker Jhon Duran, who can rake in up to €20m net per year with bonuses, while Victor Osimhen of Galatasaray makes €15m annually and can attain an additional €1m.
Teammate Leroy Sane can achieve as much as €12m thanks to a potential €3m in add-ons and a base salary of €9m. Fenerbahce goalkeeper Ederson is paid €11m per season after joining from Man City.
Onana's fortunes are in stark contrast with former Man Utd teammate Christian Eriksen, who has reportedly taken a 65 per cent pay cut to join Bundesliga side Wolfsburg after being released by the Red Devils.
