Liverpool manager Arne Slot revealed on Friday that the Reds are still chasing Marc Guehi of Crystal Palace – and it’s a deal the Anfield side have received a major update on.

The Premier League champions missed out on signing Guehi late in the summer transfer market, much to the frustration of Slot.

Out of contract in 2026, the England centre-back still appears likely to move to Liverpool, with Slot confirming as much during a press conference on Friday.

“I think it would be ridiculous if I will deny we were close, it was so out in the open, these things happen in football,” the Dutchman explained. “It's happened to our players before, it can happen.

“We would like to sign him of course because we were in for him. If we feel we can strengthen then we will try to.

“Let’s see what the future brings us. January or next summer? I can’t tell you.”

Now Liverpool have been given an update on the possibility of signing Guehi in January, with Crystal Palace naming their price for the 25-year-old.

The centre-back has been put up for sale for the price of €20 million, according to Fichajes.

Currently, his Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) is €42.5m, but this will drop as his contract nears its end. Nevertheless, it looks an attractive price.

With the Spanish source reporting interest from Real Madrid and Barcelona in the former Chelsea youth, it is a deal that Liverpool may need to make.

Konate AGREES Real Madrid move

Signing Guehi has been given more urgency by claims from Spain that Ibrahima Konate has already told Liverpool that he will not renew his contract with the club.

Indeed, that France international centre-back has already agreed a contract until 2031 with Real Madrid, Fichajes has reported.

Los Blancos have long been linked with a move for Konate, and it is stressed that his decision to follow Trent Alexander-Arnold to the Bernabeu as a free agent next summer is not one that he has made off the cuff. The links between the 26-year-old and Real Madrid have been extensive for months now.

Liverpool are said to have reacted with “disappointment” to Konate’s decision, though signing Guehi would not doubt soften that blow.
