The 21-year-old became Chelsea’s ninth and final permanent signing of the 2025 summer transfer window, after lengthy negotiations with Man Utd, and he could play a key role at Stamford Bridge this season.

The Argentina international notched 21 goal contributions in 58 appearances across all competitions last campaign, and he is set to compete with Jamie Gittens and Pedro Neto for a starting berth on the left flank under Enzo Maresca.

Garnacho is unlikely to immediately establish himself as a regular in the starting XI at Chelsea, however he is expected to rack up significant game time as the Blues look to compete on all fronts following their 2025 Club World Cup triumph.

In fact, former Everton CEO Keith Wyness believes that Chelsea’s decision to sign Garnacho for €46.2m could prove to be an inspired transfer.

Alejandro Garnacho to leave Chelsea in 2026?

“I think that he’s [Garnacho] going to turn out to be a superstar at Chelsea and I think that he’ll do well,” Wyness told Football Insider.

“£40 million is all profit for United, so they’ve done okay on the balance sheet with that. But I don’t know why they didn’t stick with him. Obviously there was a falling out there with [Ruben] Amorim.

“Look, he’s a talent and I think he’s going to do well in the Chelsea set up. So I think Chelsea have stolen one again. I wouldn’t be surprised to see him move on for £70m/£80m at the end of next season.

“Chelsea will be able to sell him on, having used him well this season, or next season as well. So I expect that to be good business for Chelsea and they’ve had a fantastic window in terms of finances as well. So full kudos to them on that one.”
