Hincapie has agreed a five year contract until 2030.

Fabrizio Romano confirmed on Monday morning that Arsenal and Leverkusen were exchanging documents before an official announcement of the transfer.

Hincapie to Arsenal

Hincapie completes a stunning transfer window by Arsenal, who have spent well over €300 million on big names such as Viktor Gyokeres, Martin Zubimendi, Noni Madueke, Cristhian Mosquera and Eberechi Eze.

The Ecuador international is the second player Mikel Arteta and Andrea Berta have managed to steal from under the nose of rivals Tottenham after Eze.

Spurs were first to express an interest in Hincapie, even making a formal loan offer with a purchase obligation. However, the player had his heart set on a move to the red half of North London when he heard of the Gunners' desire to bring him in.

Hincapie is initially expected to become a replacement for Jakub Kiwior as a back-up left-back and centre-back, but it would not be a surprise if he were to supplant Riccardo Calafiori as the starting full-back on the left.

Leverkusen have seen their squad gutted this summer, also losing the likes of Florian Wirtz, Jeremie Frimpong, Jonathan Tah and Granit Xhaka.

Hincapie waved goodbye to Leverkusen fans on Saturday after the 3-3 draw with Werder Bremen.

Hincapie spent over four years at Leverkusen after joining from Talleres in 2021.

He made over 150 appearances, famously winning the Bundesliga unbeaten in 2024.

He has been capped 46 times by Ecuador.
