Arsenal seal Hincapie

Mikel Arteta’s big-spending Arsenal side are ready to add yet another player to the manager’s ranks before the transfer window closes.

“Hincapie is done for a loan fee of €6m, plus €46m for an option to buy that will become an obligation. That’s the agreement with Bayer Leverkusen and Arsenal. Everything’s been agreed in terms of the formula. So Piero Hincapie is going to Arsenal, his contract is ready, his medical has been booked,” Romano explained on YouTube.

“Mikel Arteta’s side have won a race with many clubs over the whole summer. Hicapie at the end of last week basically went to meet Erik ten Hag and told him he wanted to go and play Premier League football.”

Chelsea secure signing as Fermin update drops

Chelsea might have completed a deal to sign Facundo Buonanotte from Brighton, but that will not stop them from chasing Barcelona star Fermin Lopez.

Romano explains on the Argentine: “This deal is for Chelsea and not for Strasbourg – he was never a target for Strasbourg. The background is that Buonanotte was almost a new Leeds player on Thursday then Chelsea called and said they might be interested. They’ve signed him on loan without an option to buy but with matching rights for the future.

“From what I understand, Chelsea have spoken to the agents of Fermin Lopez – even after signing Buonanotte. There’s been direct contact to try and understand the situation. Everyone’s trying to work out what the player wants to decide. Barcelona believe Fermin will not go but Chelsea are still talking to his agents. There’s nothing agreed with Barcelona, so we’re all waiting for the player, including the two clubs. Let’s see if this becomes a real negotiation.”

Bayern pushing like crazy for Nico Jackson

Romano has detailed why Bayern Munich are so intent on signing Nicolas Jackson in the coming hours.

“Despite links with many clubs, Bayern are pushing like crazy to close the deal between Saturday and Sunday. They don’t want to go to Deadline Day and do crazy things at the last minutes,” he said.

“Chelsea and Bayern are in talks and trying to reach a full agreement with Nico Jackson. Bayern are offered a record loan fee for Nicolas Jackson of around €15m. They’ll cover his salary so they’re really going for it.

“They believe he can be a backup for Harry Kane but also together with him on the left wing. They think he has really interesting potential.

“It would complete Chelsea’s international loan slots.”

Mainoo still pushing for Man Utd exit

Manchester United may be eager to offload several players, but Kobbie Mainoo is not one of those. The problem is that the midfielder doesn’t want to be at the club this season.

Romano explains: “Kobbie Mainoo has told Manchester United again tonight that he wants to go. He wants to go on loan. Not a permanent transfer. Only a loan. One season: play, develop, go to the World Cup in 2026 then return to Man Utd. But they don’t want him to go. Kobbie’s pushing, but Man Utd have said no. Let’s see what’s going to happen. The situation will be clearer in 24 hours.”

Details being finalised for Hojlund and Antony moves

Man Utd have yet to make any money from sales this summer, but that is set to change in the hours ahead.

“Rasmus Hojlund is not staying at Manchester United. He wants to go to Napoli. The only detail missing is on the exit terms. As soon as that is agreed, Hojlund will travel for his medical and contract signing,” Romano says.

“It will be a €6m loan with an option to buy, which can become an obligation if Napoli are in the Champions League next season, for €44m. The total package is €50m Napoli trigger the obligation.”

On Antony, there appears to be a little more work to be done, despite previous reports suggesting otherwise.

“Real Betis never agreed a deal with Manchester United tonight. If you ask me ‘will Antony go to Betis?’ my feeling is yes. My experience with the market, yes. But as of tonight, nothing has been agreed,” Romano states.

“It’s not true that anything has been agreed. Betis have confirmed that with a statement that nothing has been agreed. They were talking and then out of nowhere Betis saw reports there was an agreement. They were furious with that. The idea is to do a permanent transfer of €25m plus a 50% sell-on clause. But it’s a big salary and the exit terms of Antony are the crucial point.”
