Bruno Guimaraes progress

Arsenal are apparently making progress in their pursuit of Bruno Guimaraes as Newcastle have already lined up a replacement for the Brazilian.

French newspaper L’Equipe understands Newcastle are preparing to step up their interest in Germany and Borussia Dortmund midfielder Felix Nmecha for when they lose their captain.

Reports suggest the Gunners are on the cusp of signing the defensive midfielder for between €90 million and €100m. Newcastle are naturally reluctant to sell Guimaraes as they have already lost two of their best players, Sandro Tonali and Anthony Gordon, as well as their manager, Eddie Howe, this summer.

Nmecha is a product of Manchester City’s youth academy, making three senior appearances for the club before joining German side Wolfsburg in July 2021 and then Dortmund.

Nwaneri decision coming

RB Leipzig have emerged as one of the clubs interested in signing Ethan Nwaneri as they look to capitalise on uncertainty surrounding the Arsenal youngster's future, according to Milan News, who reported that the Italian giants will likely miss out on a deal.

The Bundesliga side have been monitoring the 19-year-old for some time and view him as a player who fits their long-standing strategy of recruiting and developing elite young talent.

Leipzig's interest comes at a time when Nwaneri's role at Arsenal is far from certain. After a mixed loan spell at Marseille, there has been speculation that Arsenal could be willing to listen to offers for the attacking midfielder if an acceptable bid is made, although no decision has been finalised.

The North London side are understood to value Nwaneri between €40m and €45m.

Tzolis shrugs off Vini Jr concerns

Arsenal continue to be linked with a blockbuster move for Real Madrid superstar Vinicius Junior, which won't exactly come as music to the ears of Christos Tzolis, who was signed this summer and plays in the same position.

But, the former Club Brugge man says he isn't concerned about the competition for places at the Emirates.

“Obviously I'm confident as a player, so I don't think about the future and what the club will do in this position,” Tzolis told Sky Sports when asked about Arsenal’s pursuit of Vinicius Jr and the possibility of a new left winger arriving at the club.

“I'm thinking [about] how to improve and settle as fast as possible in the club because I have the opportunity to train directly with the team from the beginning of the season, to play the friendly games and then to go to official games.

“So it's a chance to play directly from the beginning - and then it's up to me to show the qualities and what I can bring in the team. I'm pretty confident that I will show it in the next games.”

Tzolis recently made his debut for the club and scored to mark the occasion.

Two scenarios for Vini Jr

TalkSPORT say Vinicius Junior has two options within the next week or two: either he signs an extension with Real Madrid, or he will be sold to Arsenal.

“For Vinicius Junior, there are two scenarios, not three, according to my information. Real Madrid are putting pressure on - sign, or we are going to sell you. From Arsenal’s perspective, they’re waiting for a counter," Ben Jacobs writes.

“The key point is this is NOT Arsenal waiting for Real Madrid to speak to Vinicius about a renewal - they have made their offer. They have pitched first & now with that leverage, the ball is back in Real Madrid’s court. Real want an answer from Vinicius this week.”

“Although it’s true Jose Mourinho just wants to keep Vinicius at all costs, Florentino Perez is clear that it’s either a sale, most likely to Arsenal, or a renewal. Now, Real are working this week, after - not before - the Arsenal offer, to try and get that renewal in place.”
