The Transfers Podcast understands that midfielder Morten Hjulmand is expected to be too expensive for Man Utd as Sporting CP insists on the value of his €80 million release clause.
Ruben Amorim is a huge admirer of his former player and has been pushing for a move for the Denmark international, but the tactician is likely to end up empty-handed.
Hjulmand would be keen on a move to the Premier League, and his representatives believe that €50m would be a much more reasonable price tag.
Sesko given green light
Man Utd's owners INEOS have greenlit the club's pursuit of RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko, who is expected to command a fee north of €75m this summer.
The Red Devils are long-standing admirers of the Slovenia international and are now pushing to sign him, with ex-Red Bull director Christopher Vivell leading the charge.
Newcastle are also firmly in the race for Sesko, but the consensus is that the 22-year-old would prefer to join Man Utd.
West Ham bid for Victor
West Ham have made an €8m bid for Botafogo goalkeeper John Victor, who has been closely monitored by Man Utd in recent months.
However, the Red Devils remain undecided on what kind of profile of goalkeeper they want to sign and how much money they will have available.
As things stand, Andre Onana will be retained by the club this summer, but that does not have to mean that no new goalkeeper will be signed.
Man Utd eye Lunin
A new name in Man Utd's search for a shot-stopper could be Real Madrid No.2 Andriy Lunin, who is perennially linked with a departure from the Spanish giants.
The Ukraine international feels he is good enough to be a starting goalkeeper for a top European side and is exploring his options.
Man Utd and Newcastle are the latest clubs to be linked with the 26-year-old, although the Magpies are set to sign Aaron Ramsdale.
