Man Utd launch EXCITING midfielder move after Baleba disappointment
Manchester United appear unperturbed by missing out on Carlos Baleba and have set their sights on another of the Premier League’s top midfield talents.
United had been pushing to sign Brighton star Baleba and appeared willing to spend big on the 21-year-old Cameroon international, who Ruben Amorim sees as “perfect” for his midfield.
Fabrizio Romano says that it’s a move that the Red Devils are likely to resurrect in 2026, with talks still ongoing with the player’s entourage, yet that’s not stopped the Old Trafford side from exploring other options in the middle of the park.
Crystal Palace midfielder Adam Wharton is the latest to be targeted by United, TalkSport reports.
Liverpool and Real Madrid have both been linked with a move for the 21-year-old.
Adam Wharton to Man Utd: A difficult deal
Man Utd are likely to receive a similar response from Crystal Palace when they ask about Wharton as they did from Brighton when they enquired over Baleba.
It would be surprising if the Eagles were to sell at this stage in the transfer window.
Marc Guehi is close to a move to Liverpool and Eberechi Eze appears to be increasingly likely to join Tottenham Hotspur, meaning the last couple of weeks in the transfer window are set to be extremely busy.
With two of their most important three players already heading for the exit door, Palace are unlikely to be willing to give themselves further headache by allowing another star to depart.
FootballTransfers understands that Man Utd have also asked about the possibility of signing Quinten Timber from Feyenoord, with a deal in this case much more viable as the 24-year-old has just one year remaining on his contract with the Eredivisie side.
