Liverpool may have made several blockbuster summer transfers, but only one has been picked out by Anfield boss Arne Slot as being able to make star man Mohamed Salah excel.

Salah produced one of the great Premier League campaigns in 2024/25 as Liverpool romped to the title. The Egypt international scored 29 goals and generated 18 assists.

Slot is hoping for more of the same this time around and says that right-back Jeremie Frimpong is a player who can help the 33-year-old reach those heights once more.

Speaking to the press ahead of the Premier League opener against Bournemouth on Friday, the Dutchman predicted that the departure of Trent Alexander-Arnold to Real Madrid is not going to have a big bearing on the season of Salah or Liverpool.

"Trent brought the best out of Mo. Conor and Jeremie are different types of full-back, but I think the same thing is going to happen with Mo,” Slot said.

“In my opinion, Jeremie and Conor Bradley are similar types - although Jeremie might be better in one-v-one situations than Conor.

“They both have attributes across all outputs, and if you play against them, you know you have to be aware of them.

“That usually gives Mo even more space for one-v-ones, because it’s difficult for the opposition when we isolate Mo or Jeremie.”

Liverpool stacked going forward

It’s not just Frimpong that Salah will be excited to work with. The prospect of hooking up with Premier League record signing Florian Wirtz will also be an attractive one for the African given the creative qualities that the German has in abundance.

The Reds have also invested €90 million in centre-forward Hugo Ekitike and might yet have Alexander Isak from Newcastle to further supplement a stacked attacking line.

FootballTransfers understands that Salah is primed to leave Liverpool next summer, one year before his contract expires, so will be eager to make the most of his new team-mates.
