Fabrizio Romano Transfer News: Garnacho AGREEMENT, Baleba to Man Utd BOMBSHELL, Sesko ANNOUNCEMENT
Football transfer news reporter Fabrizio Romano has delivered the latest news from the 2025 summer window, with updates on Benjamin Sesko, Alejandro Garnacho and Carlos Baleba.
Benjamin Sesko announcement
Manchester United have reached a full agreement to sign RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko, and Romano has confirmed that he will be unveiled on Saturday.
“Today is Benjamin Sesko day at Man Utd because he is undergoing medical tests and he is ready to sign his contract as a new Man Utd player. Then the official unveiling will be on Saturday at Old Trafford,” Romano admitted in his latest YouTube video.
“So all set for Sesko to become a new Man Utd player on a five-year deal after the agreement club-to-club with RB Leipzig for an €85 million package.
“It’s also important to say that among the consequences of the Sesko deal is the future of Rasmus Hojlund. The understanding is that Man Utd are now open to letting Hojlund leave the club in the final 20 days of the summer transfer window.
“On the club side, Man Utd are open to this possibility. On the player’s side, the message coming from those close to Hojlund is very clear: he wants to stay at Man Utd. Hojlund wants to fight for his place and he is not scared by the competition of any player.
“He liked the official ‘here we go’ I posted about Sesko on Instagram showing that he's more than happy to welcome one more striker to United. His mentality is always for the team and not just for himself. Hojlund is not scared and he went public last week saying ‘I want to stay at Man Utd [and] I want to fight for my place.’
“Privately Man Utd have received the same message from the player. But if Man Utd tells him: ‘Rasmus it’s better that you go’ - the story could be different,” Romano continued.
“AC Milan are considering a move for Hojlund. They have spoken to people close to the player and they have a very good relationship with intermediaries for this potential deal. So
“Milan have been informed about the possibility of a loan deal for Hojlund with a buy option. The loan fee would probably cost more than €5m and the salary of Hojlund would be fully covered.
“So it would be a move that could be worth €10 or €11m euros for Man Utd. At the moment, Hojlund wants to stay at Man Utd and fight for his place but Milan are informed about the situation."
Chelsea update
Meanwhile, Chelsea are focused on sanctioning player sales as they look to reduce the size of Enzo Maresca’s first-team squad.
The Blues have already raised €209m through sales this summer, but Romano has confirmed that Christopher Nkunku and Nicolas Jackson could be the next to be sold.
“Chelsea keep working on sales and that's the priority as I’ve always told you. [Christopher] Nkunku has to be the next one and he wants to leave the club,” Romano said. “I don’t see Nkunku or [Nicolas] Jackson playing anymore, not even in the friendly games. But, I can tell you that right after that, Chelsea will be ready to attack again.
“First of all, injury for Levi Colwill - a serious ACL injury. But, let me say that Chelsea don't plan to sign a centre-back at the moment. They have not activated any plan to sign a new centre-back.
“Xavi Simons remains an advanced conversation between Chelsea and RB Leipzig, but Chelsea want to sell players first and then they will continue the conversations. The deal has also gone slow also because of Sesko - Leipzig were focused on the Sesko deal - but Simons to Chelsea remains a deal underway.
Alejandro Garnacho agrees to join Chelsea
In addition, Romano confirmed that Man Utd winger Alejandro Garnacho has finalised personal terms with Chelsea ahead of a proposed move to west London.
Romano revealed: “I can tell you that according to my information, Chelsea have an agreement with Alejandro Garnacho on personal terms. Garnacho only wants to go to Chelsea. I’ve told you several times that he rejected all the approaches from different countries, from different clubs. He wants to go to Chelsea.
“Chelsea are really convinced about Garnacho and Garnacho is really convinced about Chelsea as the perfect opportunity for him. In January, he wanted to go to Chelsea, but that was not possible because Man Utd at that time wanted to include Nkunku in the deal. But now it's different and now the story is on the valuation of the player.
“The feeling is that Garnacho will go to Chelsea.”
Carlos Baleba to Man Utd?
Finally, Romano also provided a major update on Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder Carlos Baleba, who has been identified as a top target by Ruben Amorim at Man Utd.
“The story for Carlos Baleba is something that Man Utd want to keep alive,” Romano told his YouTube channel. “They have spoken to the agents and people close to the player, but they believe that it's going to be very difficult to convince Brighton as they are not willing to accept a normal fee for Baleba.
“Baleba has not closed the door to Man Utd, but at the same time he is being respectful to Brighton and he's not forcing a move.
“He knows that eventually staying one more season at Brighton can be the opportunity to eventually leave in 2026. But, if Man Utd find a way to sign Baleba from Brighton, he will be ready to say ‘yes’ and to go to Man Utd even without European football.
“Now it depends on the clubs, but Brighton have set a very big price for the player and they don't want to sell at all. So it's going to be very difficult for Man Utd. This has to be one to watch because Man Utd now want a new midfielder.”
