Fabrizio Romano Transfer News: Garnacho 'VERY ADVANCED', Isak UPDATE, Baleba to Man Utd TRUTH
Football transfer news reporter Fabrizio Romano has delivered the latest news from the 2025 summer window, with updates on Alejandro Garnacho, Alexander Isak and Carlos Baleba.
Nottingham Forest triple deal?
Nottingham Forest have endured a slow start to the 2025 summer transfer window, but Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that three deals are on the cards during his latest YouTube video.
“James McAtee to Nottingham Forest is ‘here we go’. A story I told you at the beginning of the week. The deal was on the right track and now it's done,” Romano admitted.
“Forest are really active on the market; McAtee arrives for £22 million plus add-ons up to £30m, and sell-on and buy-back clauses. It’s important to mention that Man City will have a buy-back close to keep future control on the player.
“The market is very active for several clubs and for Forest, we say that Arnaud Kalimuendo is coming, the deal for Omari Hutchinson is on and then signing McAtee.”
Gianluigi Donnarumma open to Man City
Gianluigi Donnarumma is expected to leave Paris Saint-Germain before the end of Transfer Deadline Day, following a public bust-up with the club, and Man City are currently leading the race for his signature.
“When we mention Man City for the departure of McAtee, we have to mention Gianluigi Donnarumma again,” Romano said. “I can tell you that, after the quotes of the agent and after the relationship broke down with Paris Saint-Germain, Donaruma maintains his position - he will try to leave now rather than waiting for 2026 and make a move on a free.
“Donnarumma is very open to making his move to Man City and the first contacts between his camp and Man City were very positive.
“As I always told you, the deal depends on if Ederson goes to Galatasaray or not. There is a negotiation ongoing between Ederson and Galatasaray on personal terms, and Man City are waiting to see how much Galatasaray will put this final offer on the table.
“That's the first point. The second point is obviously the price, with Man City still working on that after contact was made on Monday with PSG.”
Romano continued: “Donnarumma is opening doors to Man City, he's keen on the move and he has received very good feedback from Pep Guardiola. Pep really appreciates Donnarumma.
“What happens there with Chelsea? Nothing at all. Forget about Chelsea for Donnarumma. What about Manchester United? At the moment, there are still no active talks between Man Utd and Donnarumma.
“Man Utd are focused on different things and if they activate the Donnarumma option, I will let you know.”
Carlos Baleba to Man Utd update
Reports in Cameroon suggest that Man Utd have already reached a full agreement to sign Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder Carlos Baleba, however Romano has poured cold water on such claims.
“What are Man Utd focused on? Midfield and Carlos Baleba,” he said. “Contacts are continuing on a daily basis with his agents and also with Brighton in order to present an official bid and to understand if it’s worth negotiating.
“It's important to understand more on the outgoings because selling players for Man Utd, or finding solutions for the players who are not part of the squad, is really important.”
Romano then confirmed that Alejandro Garnacho is edging closer to completing his dream summer move to Chelsea.
“Toby Collyer goes to West Bromwich Albion, but it's just a loan. When I talk about players it’s about the big names. For Alejandro Garnacho, talks in the background between Chelsea and Man Utd are well underway,” the football transfer news expert revealed.
“Chelsea are working on this Garnacho deal and they have an agreement with Garnacho. I know that in the media it’s not that present, but trust me behind the scenes the Garnacho deal is very, very advanced and Man Utd are prepared to sell Garnacho on a permanent transfer.
“For Antony, Real Betis are interested and they are still working on the deal. Let's see if financially they can do it or if other clubs will jump into it.
“Jadon Sancho - an official bid arrived today from Roma. Roma have offered a loan with an obligation to buy under easy conditions worth a transfer fee of €20m. So around €23m as a total package between loan fee and the full package including the obligation to buy under easy conditions.
“Sancho is open to making his move to Italy, but we’re still waiting to understand if he's going to agree personal terms with Roma or not.
“Sancho is in conversations with Roma, but he is still not opening the doors to Turkish clubs. Besikas were interested but Sancho never opened the doors. Why? Because Sancho now is giving priority to Europe.”
Romano added: “With all these stories, Sancho, Antony and Garnacho from Man Utd, it could be important to raise some money and see what happens with the Baleba story.
“Baleba is keen on a move to Man Utd and there are no problems on personal terms, but the deal depends on Brighton and Brighton will not make it easy.”
Alexander Isak latest
Alexander Isak remains on strike at Newcastle United, but his desired move to Liverpool is yet to pick up significant pace.
“Liverpool are still there for Alexander Isak. Liverpool are still prepared to bid if and when Newcastle open doors to this move,” Romano admitted.
“Isak is not changing his stance. The player will not be available for the opening game against Aston Villa.
“Meanwhile, after signing Malik Thiaw for €40m, Newcastle also closed the deal for Jacob Ramsey from Aston Villa on a £40m package.
“Newcastle are working on the market and they are looking at a striker. If they find a striker and they decide to let Isak go, Liverpool will be very ready to send an official bid and to go in a very strong way for Isak in the final days of the window.
“Isak doesn't want to play for Newcastle anymore. The message is quite clear for the Aston Villa game. Then obviously Newcastle will face Liverpool and the idea for Isak is quite clear. He doesn't want to be on the pitch. Isak wants to go to Liverpool.
Marc Guehi to Liverpool?
Finally, Romano revealed that Liverpool are still eager to sign Crystal Palace captain Marc Guehi, despite reaching a full agreement to purchase Parma centre-back Giovanni Leoni.
“Giovanni Leoni had the first part of his medical yesterday. Today, he will complete everything and then it's going to be time to sign his contract as a new Liverpool player. Everything is very good for Leoni, who has had his first face-to-face contact with Arne Slot.
“Richard Hughes and Slot both wanted Leoni and now the player can be considered a new Liverpool player for €35m, plus a sell-on clause for Parma.
“And don’t forget, I tell you again that Liverpool also want to sign Marc Guehi. So that remains another focus for this crazy transfer window that Liverpool are having. The deal is absolutely done for Leoni and the deal is absolutely on for Guehi.”
