Fabrizio Romano reveals how Man Utd could sign Fermin Lopez
Fabrizio Romano says there is nothing concrete in the links between Fermin Lopez and Man Utd, and explains the extraordinary circumstances required to bring the player to Old Trafford.
Fermin has been heavily linked with a summer move to Man Utd in recent days, with Sport reporting that the Red Devils were planning a €70 million offer for the Barcelona midfielder.
However, Romano has shot down this report and says that it would require Fermin to hand in a transfer request - as well as a massive offer - in order for the player to join Man Utd.
What did Romano say?
“I am told there is nothing concrete on the Man Utd links with Fermin Lopez,” Romano said on his YouTube channel.
“Barcelona don’t want to sell Fermin Lopez.
“The only chance of Fermin Lopez leaving is if the player goes to Barca, the director Deco or coach Hansi Flick and says he wants to leave.
“In that case Barcelona will look for a solution.
“But Barcelona want to keep the player, Barcelona trust the player and Barcelona believe their squad is perfect as it is.
“Fermin is fully focused on Barca.
“Even if all this happens, the financial package would have to be something special.”
Fermin was somewhat on the periphery of the Blaugrana's success in Hansi Flick's first season on 2024-25.
Given the household names in Barcelona's centre of the park, Fermin naturally struggled to win a starting spot in the side.
Still, the 22-year-old's insatiable drive forward was evident when given chances to impress.
Despite primarily coming off the bench, Fermin managed to chip in with a respectable eight goals and 10 assists last term.
Since making his senior Barcelona debut in 2023-24, he has managed 88 appearances in all competitions and scored 19 goals in all competitions and nine assists.
He has been capped twice by the Spain national team.
