Arsenal offered €50m London-born attacker who has ‘DISAPPEARED’
Arsenal could make a late splash in the transfer market after being offered the type of pacy and decisive attacker that Mikel Arteta would love.
The Gunners have reportedly been offered the opportunity to sign Nigeria international striker Ademola Lookman from Atalanta.
Arsenal are keeping their eyes open for an additional forward in the closing weeks of the transfer market and Lookman has appeared as a wildcard option.
According to Nicolo Schira, intermediaries have approached the Gunners over the possibility of a move as an alternative to Eberechi Eze.
FootballTransfers has detailed the Gunners’ interest in the Crystal Palace attacker, who is still very much the priority of Arteta’s side.
Ademola Lookman: The state of play
Lookman, who was born in London and brought up in Peckham, is said to be available for around €50m from Atalanta. The player is giving his priority to Inter, having agreed personal terms with the Milan club. No agreement has been reached between the Serie A giants, with the transfer fee proving a major sticking point.
Now the 27-year-old is taking matters into his own hands, becoming one of a growing number of players to go AWOL from training. On Wednesday, Gazzetta dello Sport claimed he had “disappeared”, sparking a dramatic reaction from Atalanta.
“The all-out war unleashed by Lookman, escalating day by day, is the trigger for an explosion of incalculable size,” the Italian source claimed.

Arsenal could move for the Nigeria star but are unlikely to deploy him as a centre-forward, where Viktor Gyokeres is the marquee summer signing. Lookman is capable of playing wide and could replace Gabriel Martinelli, but he was also used as a shadow striker at Atalanta last season and could be a direct alternative to Eze has a consequence.
Lookman is not short on quality. Last season, he scored 15 times and created five assists in 31 Serie A outings, while he was also rated as statistically the best attacker in the league by SciSports, putting up stellar offensive numbers across the board in the process.
Arsenal would be wise to weigh up a deal.
