Top source CONFIRMS Man Utd want to sign Gianluigi Donnarumma
Manchester United are keen to sign PSG goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma, Sky Sports has now confirmed.
Signing a new shot-stopper hasn't been a priority for Man Utd this window, but the possibility of bolstering that department is being explored due to Andre Onana's disappointing performances last term.
Budget permitting, the Old Trafford club will look to bring in a new man between the sticks, although it remains to be seen if that will spell the end of Onana's time at the club.
Man Utd still appear to be undecided on whether they want to sign a more experienced upgrade on the Cameroon international or a younger player who can still develop and eventually supplant him.
Royal Antwerp youngster Senne Lammens falls into the latter category, while Emiliano Martinez of Aston Villa would be an immediate replacement. Both players have been contacted, but it increasingly looks as though a third player is about to seriously enter the fray.
Man Utd interest in Donnarumma confirmed
According to Sky Sports, the reports of Man Utd's interest in PSG star Gianluigi Donnarumma are true. The Red Devils hold a concrete interest in the Italian, whose future is completely up in the air at present.
Despite his standout performances last season, Donnarumma will likely leave Paris either this summer or as a free agent next year. There has been no progress on a new contract for the 26-year-old, and PSG are on the verge of signing Lille No.1 Lucas Chevalier.
Donnarumma will reportedly be informed this week that he is officially on the market, but in truth, the player's representatives have long since started exploring a move away.
However, it is thought that Donnarumma will only leave PSG this summer if he can find the right project for himself. He could also compete with Chevalier and run down his contract. It remains to be seen if he would be open to a move to Man Utd.
