Man City reveal SURPRISE Ederson stance as €46m deal takes huge twist
Manchester City have surprisingly decided that they do not want to sell goalkeeper Ederson this summer, according to a report.
The Cityzens' No.1 has been widely expected to leave the Etihad. Already last year, Ederson was flirting with a move to Saudi Arabia, but Man City's inflated asking price deterred his Middle Eastern suitors.
After last summer's failed transfer, there has been a clear expectation that the Brazilian would be on the move this time around, and Galatasaray recently opened talks to sign him.
The Turkish giants have been described as 'confident' of securing the 31-year-old shot-stopper as they seek a long-term replacement for club legend Fernando Muslera.
It has been claimed that personal terms with the player have already been agreed, but talk of a low-ball €3 million bid has been downplayed, with the Istanbul side yet to open formal talks with City.
City want Ederson to stay, Trafford deal off?
According to Sky Sports, Man City don't actually intend to sell Ederson this summer. Contrary to what has been widely reported, the Manchester giants want the veteran goalkeeper to remain their No.1.
Ederson, too, has suggested that he is keen to stay by recently describing rumours of a move away as '99 per cent fake news.' He added: "My head is here, it stays with City... My mind is staying in the club."
This will be a big boost for Newcastle, who were recently disappointed to find out that Man City had opened talks with Burnley to sign James Trafford, the Magpies' top goalkeeper target.
City have a €46 million buy-back clause, but discussions with the promoted side centred around a potentially cheaper deal. However, the Cityzens will only proceed with Trafford if they sell Ederson or Stefan Ortega.
