Gyokeres signs for Arsenal and five transfers that could be completed this week
The 2025 summer transfer window is beginning to heat up and a number of high-profile deals are expected to be formally announced shortly.
Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester City have already been extremely active in the market, while there have been several huge transfer developments over the past few days.
Below, FootballTransfers runs through five major deals that could be completed this week.
Bryan Mbeumo – Brentford to Man Utd
Bryan Mbeumo’s transfer from Brentford to Manchester United has dragged on for a number of weeks with little progress but there is hope that a deal can be concluded in the coming days.
FootballTransfers has been told that a deal has already been agreed with Brentford but complications appear to still be arising with the finances of the transfer, which could see United pay a total package of more than €80m.
United are desperate to secure Mbeumo’s signing before they leave for their pre-season tour of the United States next Tuesday, suggesting that talks could ramp up in the coming days to finally try and close the deal.
Viktor Gyokeres – Sporting to Arsenal
Another one of the summer’s ongoing sagas has been Viktor Gyokeres’ move from Sporting to Arsenal, although progress appears to have been made in recent days over a deal.
Sporting have held firm in their asking price, while Arsenal too have refused to bow to the Portuguese side’s demands, however David Ornstein confirmed that an agreement in principle had been struck over the weekend, suggesting a deal was close.
The structure of the deal appears to be the hold up, with Arsenal agreeing to pay an initial fee of €63.5m and €10m in add-ons, of which Sporting are demanding become easily achievable in a situation which is likely to be resolved in the coming days.
Noni Madueke – Chelsea to Arsenal
A much simpler deal for Arsenal could be confirmed as soon as Tuesday night, with Noni Madueke expected to complete his move to the Gunners from Chelsea.
Madueke was not present for Chelsea’s Club World Cup final win on the weekend and he is believed to have completed his medical with Arsenal, with only a formal announcement remaining.
The winger has agreed terms on a five-year contract, with Chelsea receiving an initial fee of £48m plus £4m in add-ons from Arsenal.
Cristhian Mosquera – Valencia to Arsenal
Arsenal could even secure a third signing this week after Cristhian Mosquera confirmed he was on course to move to the Gunners from Valencia.
The defender has already agreed terms with Arsenal for a total package of less than €20m including add-ons, with Mosquera already arriving for his medical and confirming his exit from Valencia.
“Valencia is my home and it always will be,” Mosquera said. “‘I arrived when I was 12, and now I’m leaving as a grown man, a little sad because you’ve been here your whole life, but decisions in football are like that. Now a new era begins.”
Morgan Gibbs-White – Nottingham Forest to Tottenham
Despite Nottingham Forest threatening legal action against Tottenham last week, Morgan Gibbs-White could still complete his move to the North London side after they seemingly activated his release clause.
Tottenham made the surprise approach for Gibbs-White by discovering a £60m release clause and rapidly moving to secure the deal, infuriating Forest in the process who felt Spurs had acted unlawfully.
Forest have moved to delay the transfer to try and prevent Spurs from signing their talismanic midfielder but they may be resigned to their fate, leaving Gibbs-White to make his move to the capital imminently.
