Fabrizio Romano transfer news: Madueke VERDICT, Man Utd CALLS, Nico Williams LATEST
Football transfer news expert Fabrizio Romano has provided the latest on all the biggest headlines, including Noni Madueke to Arsenal, Noni Madueke and Jadon Sancho.
Denzel Dumfries to Barcelona rumours
Romano confirmed the situation of Inter Milan’s Denzel Dumfries. He revealed details of the release clause and reiterated that Barcelona are one of the teams following the Netherlands star.
He told his YouTube channel: “The release clause is worth €25m and is only valid until the middle of July. Let’s see what club will move for him. Barcelona have made some calls in recent months for Dumfries, who will switch agent. Rumours say he will go with Jorge Mendes, one of the most powerful agents. He’s one to watch, for sure.”
What’s the latest on Nico Williams?
Sticking to the subject of Barcelona, Romano admitted that there’s still a sticking point in their move for Nico Williams, confirming the information coming out of Spain on Thursday.
“On Nico Williams, there are completely conflicting reports. Some say it’s almost done, some say it’s collapsing,” Romano said.
“The situation hasn’t changed since the beginning of the week. It’s being held up by the registration of Nico. Barcelona are trying to convince those close to Nico that there will be no problems with the registration. Meanwhile, those close to Nico want written guarantees. At the moment, that’s the issue. Barcelona are still in the process.”
Should the move for Williams collapse, the Catalans could turn their attentions to Liverpool.
Romano says: “Luis Diaz for Barcelona is one name that has always remained internally. He’s still someone on the shortlist. Bayern tried in the last few days, and Liverpool said no. It was the same answer when Barca tried a few weeks ago. There’s still interest from Al-Nassr. But Luis Diaz is one to watch.”
Sancho move faces trouble
Manchester United are fielding calls from Juventus over Jadon Sancho, but Romano has suggested this will be a difficult deal to get done.
He says: “Juventus keep calling Manchester United over Sancho. They made calls in recent weeks for him. Now they’re trying to understand the issue. They don’t want to cover his whole salary – it’s almost important. Either Sancho’s salary changes, or it’s going to be complicated in the upcoming days and weeks. Juventus’ interest is confirmed.”
Newcastle make Elanga bid
It’s been a slow start for Newcastle in the summer transfer window, but Eddie Howe’s side are still making an effort to get deals done.
Romano explains: “Newcastle sent an official bid to Nottingham Forest for Anthony Elanga worth £55m. They’re trying hard to sign Elanga after they wanted Joao Pedro from Brighton. He went to Chelsea and that battle was lost. Nothing’s done yet, but Newcastle are trying to make it happen.”
Romano gives Madueke transfer verdict
Finally, Romano outlined what’s going on with Arsenal and Chelsea winger Noni Madueke. He believes that there is a very real possibility that a transfer could be on.
“I’m told that in recent hours contact has taken place with the camp of Noni Madueke,” Romano says.
“Just to give you my feeling, when people close to the player continue to meet the club, it means that the player could be open to a potential move. It doesn’t mean that Madueke wants to leave Chelsea or that Madueke is done or leaving for Arsenal 100%. It just means that he’s opened door to a potential move to Arsenal. Then it depends what they can and want to offer.
“At the moment, there’s no official bid but this is another case to watch in the upcoming days.”
