Chelsea Transfer News Today: Nwaneri revelation as summer announcement issued
FootballTransfers runs through all the latest Chelsea transfer news, rumours and gossip, including updates on Ethan Nwaneri and Joao Felix.
Exclusive: Nwaneri won’t join Chelsea
In addition, FootballTransfers can exclusively reveal that Arsenal will not sell Ethan Nwaneri to Chelsea.
The England U21 international is wanted by Chelsea, amid rumours of an exit, but we understand that Nwaneri has already agreed to extend his contract at Arsenal as he remains happy with his boyhood club.
A permanent exit is therefore not on the cards and Arsenal are desperate to keep him.
Felix announcement
Chelsea outcast Joao Felix has officially announced his intention to return to Benfica this summer.
The Portugal international re-joined the Blues last year, but he failed to break into Enzo Maresca’s favoured starting XI and he was sent out on loan to AC Milan in January.
A permanent departure is expected to take place before the new campaign and a move back to Benfica is on the cards.
Madueke offer
Arsenal are set to send an official bid to Chelsea for Noni Madueke, according to Fabrizio Romano.
The England international has agreed personal terms on a five-year deal with the Gunners and talks are at an advanced stage as Arteta looks to sign a new winger capable of operating on both flanks.
Madueke is open to joining Arsenal, although the north London side are yet to match Chelsea’s asking price of €58m,
Chelsea want Dowman
During negotiations with Arsenal over Madueke, Chelsea reportedly asked about the potential availability of 15-year-old wonderkid Max Dowman.
The teenager is set to be involved in the first-team squad at the Emirates Stadium next season, but Chelsea want to bring him to west London amid their pursuit of the best youngsters in world football.
However, Arsenal reportedly rejected Chelsea’s proposal for Dowman as they see him as the future of the club.
Osimhen verdict
Chelsea legend Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink believes that his former club’s decision to end their pursuit of Napoli’s Victor Osimhen was the correct one.
The Nigeria international has been heavily linked with a Stamford Bridge switch for the past few years and FootballTransfers understands that a move was a possibility this summer before the Blues signed Liam Delap.
But, Chelsea opted against finalising a deal for the Nigerian and Hasselbaink has praised this decision.
