Chelsea have reportedly identified Crystal Palace star Eberechi Eze as a cut-price alternative to Morgan Rogers as they look to purchase another attacker before the end of the 2025 summer transfer window.

The Blues have already completed the signings of Jamie Gittens, Joao Pedro, Liam Delap, Estevao Willian and Kendry Paez so far this summer, but they are open to landing a sixth forward amid Noni Madueke’s imminent move to Arsenal and the uncertain future of Nicolas Jackson.

The reigning Club World Cup champions are also eager to offload Raheem Sterling, Joao Felix, Christopher Nkunku, Armando Broja and David Datro Fofana this summer amid a major rebuild under Enzo Maresca.

With several departures planned, Chelsea may dip into the market to sign a versatile attacker and Eze has been earmarked as a cheaper alternative to Rogers - who is reportedly valued at over €100m by Aston Villa.

That is according to TEAMtalk, who claim that Chelsea could be set to beat Arsenal in the race to sign Eze this summer.

Chelsea to win race for Eberechi Eze?

Arsenal have been heavily linked with the England international in recent weeks and reports indicate that he could be signed in addition to the aforementioned Madueke, with the Gunners eager to strengthen their squad as they look to end a five-year trophy drought.

However, TEAMtalk have revealed that Arsenal aren’t willing to trigger the €78.6m (£68m) release clause included in Eze’s current contract at Crystal Palace.

Chelsea, on the other hand, are prepared to match this figure and they are ready to offer the 27-year-old a lucrative contract in order to secure his signature.

If Chelsea reach an agreement to sign Eze this summer, the Englishman would likely be used as a back-up option to Cole Palmer in an attacking midfield role, while he would compete with Pedro Neto and Jamie Gittens for a starting berth on the left flank.

Eze scored 14 goals and provided 11 assists in 43 appearances across all competitions for Crystal Palace last season, while his current contract at Selhurst Park is due to expire in 2027.
