Chelsea in DREAMLAND as European giants chase surprise double deal
Chelsea have been handed a major transfer boost following news that Bayern Munich are interested in signing both Christopher Nkunku and Renato Veiga this summer.
The Blues have been informed they must have a positive transfer balance in order to register their summer signings for next season’s Champions League and they are therefore scrambling to sell their extensive list of unwanted stars.
Enzo Maresca currently has a whopping 45 first-team players at his disposal and Chelsea could earn as much as €430 million through sales if they are able to offload everyone currently on their transfer list.
Nkunku and Veiga are among the stars who could depart, and Bayern are interested in signing both players, according to The Athletic, as they look to bolster the squad at Vincent Kompany’s disposal.
Nkunku was wanted by Bayern last summer and in January, however they were unable to finalise a deal with Chelsea on either occasion and they have been tipped to re-enter negotiations with the Blues ahead of a possible summer transfer.
Veiga, meanwhile, has emerged as a top defensive target for the Bundesliga giants following an encouraging stint on loan at Juventus during the second-half of last season. The Portugal international adapted well to life as a central defender in Turin, and Bayern are reportedly one of “several teams” that are monitoring his situation.
Bayern Munich want Christopher Nkunku
Bayern have missed out on both Nico Williams and Florian Wirtz so far this summer, and they have seemingly identified Nkunku as their next attacking target following the departure of Leroy Sane on a Bosman deal.
The France international has endured a tough two-year spell at Chelsea, registering just six goals in 38 Premier League appearances for the club, and he appears destined to leave west London after the recent arrivals of Joao Pedro, Jamie Gittens, Liam Delap, Estevao Willian and Kendry Paez.
Bayern are also interested in signing Nick Woltemade, although Stuttgart are determined to retain the Germany forward for at least another season and Nkunku is therefore seen as a more attainable target.
