Arsenal remain 'relaxed' about their pursuit of Valencia defender Cristhian Mosquera and are expected to place a new bid soon, according to a report.

The Gunners barged into the race to sign the Spaniard towards the end of June after Mosquera initially looked set to head to Germany. RB Leipzig had an agreement with the player, but they were unwilling to match Valencia's asking price and ultimately left the talks.

It has so far been a similar story with Arsenal, too. Mosquera quickly agreed terms with the North London club, but negotiations with Valencia have yielded little success to date.

Arsenal had a low-ball opening bid rejected by the LaLiga side and have so far refrained from improving their offer, with the current focus squarely on securing the signing of Viktor Gyokeres.

Valencia have slapped a €25 million price tag on Mosquera, which his suitors deem slightly inflated considering that he only has a year to run on his contract and that he has shown no signs of wanting to extend.

Arsenal 'relaxed' about Mosquera

Over the past 24 hours, reports have emerged claiming that a potential move for Mosquera has 'completely stalled,' but Sky Sports states that the Gunners remain 'patient' and 'relaxed' about the situation.

The outlet confirms FootballTransfers' reporting that Arsenal are fully expected to make an improved offer for the 21-year-old in due course. The Premier League giants are buoyed by Mosquera's unequivocal desire to join them.

Arsenal, of course, need to be mindful of their spending in the age of Profitability and Sustainability Rules, and they look set to splash more than €200m on new recruits this summer.

However, given the relatively trifling sum demanded for Mosquera, there appears to be a good chance that Arsenal will end up getting their man before the end of the summer window.
