Olympique Lyon have slapped a whopping €50+ million price tag on Malick Fofana, who is fielding interest from several Premier League heavyweights.

The Belgium international is coming off an encouraging first full season at Lyon, recording 11 goals and six assists and impressing against Man Utd in the Europa League.

At just 20 years of age, Fofana has bags of potential, and this potential hasn't gone unnoticed in the Premier League. On Monday, it was revealed that Chelsea had made a verbal enquiry about the winger to register their interest in him.

While no formal talks have taken place, he is one of the names under consideration by the Blues, who are prioritising the signing of a right-footed left-winger now.

Jamie Gittens remains the Stamford Bridge club's top target for that position, and the England youth international is only willing to engage with Chelsea at present, but it is not set in stone yet that an agreement with Borussia Dortmund will be reached.

Man Utd, Liverpool also keen on Fofana

According to L'Equipe, Man Utd and Liverpool also hold an interest in Fofana. The French outlet states that Chelsea were merely the first club to 'come out of the woodwork' and make a move for the Belgian.

Moreover, it is stated that Lyon have set a whopping asking price in excess of €50m for the youngster, who currently boasts an Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) of €29.8m.

Despite Lyon's financial problems, they are not willing to let Fofana go on the cheap, with suitors forced to pay a premium for his potential. This price is likely informed by Chelsea's decision to bid €50m for the aforementioned Gittens.

Fofana and Gittens are at a similar stage of their development - and still raw - so Lyon will have looked at Chelsea's willingness to pay big money for the Dortmund star and taken it as a yardstick.
