Bryan Mbeumo makes Man Utd transfer decision

Brentford forward Bryan Mbeumo has reportedly set his sights on completing a summer move to Manchester United, despite significant interest from Tottenham Hotspur.
The Cameroon international enjoyed a sublime 2024-25 campaign, registering 20 goals and seven assists in 38 Premier League appearances, and he has been heavily linked with an exit ahead of the new season.
Man Utd have identified Mbeumo as a key target following the arrival of Matheus Cunha from Wolverhampton Wanderers, although Tottenham are attempting to hijack his proposed move to Old Trafford following their appointment of ex-Brentford boss Thomas Frank.
However, Mbeumo has informed confidants that he only wants to join Man Utd, according to the Manchester Evening News, while Ruben Amorim’s side are “confident” of finalising a deal.
Andre Onana, who plays with Mbeumo at international level, faces an uncertain future at Old Trafford, but he has advised his Cameroon team-mate to join Man Utd this summer, as per MEN, and this appears to have influenced the 25-year-old’s decision.
Man Utd are yet to agree a transfer fee with Brentford, but they are currently the frontrunners for his signature, despite the fact that Tottenham are willing to offer him a higher salary package.
Bryan Mbeumo responds to Man Utd interest
Speaking to Sky Sports F1 ahead of the Canadian Grand Prix on Sunday, a race won by Mercedes-AMG Petronas driver George Russell, Mbeumo discussed rumours of a summer exit and praised former boss Frank following his appointment at Tottenham.
“It (transfer speculation) is a bit new for me I would say,” Mbeumo admitted. “I think it can be the life of a footballer and you need to accept it.”

When asked about Frank, Mbeumo added: “He's done so much for me. He literally trusted me from the start. I think he developed the team so well.
“He developed me as a human and a player as well. So I can only wish him all the best, and I'm sure he's going to do well.
“I think he knows everything. He's really smart. He knows where he wants to bring the team, how he wants to play. I think he's been fantastic for Brentford.
“I think he's going to have some time to adapt, obviously. [Champions League] games, more expectations, as you said, but I'm sure he's going to do well.
“He knows how to talk to people. He knows how to build a group. And that's why we've been playing so well.”
