Manchester City have put clubs on alert by pushing Jack Grealish towards the Etihad exit with a surprise decision over the former Aston Villa player.

It has been made very clear that the England international is surplus to requirements for Pep Guardiola’s side, who have already made a string of major summer signings, including creative attacker Rayan Cherki from Lyon.

Grealish was signed from Aston Villa for €117 million in the summer of 2021 and has failed to live up to that price tag since arriving at the Etihad. After more than a year of speculation, the 29-year-old has finally been put up for sale, with his Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) having dropped to €43.7m.

But Grealish promises to be difficult to move on, leaving him branded as one of the Premier League’s most unsellable players. This price tag, in combination with his sizeable wage, makes him a gamble that most teams would pass on. City want €50-60m by way of a transfer fee while the player’s current salary is in the region of €350,000 per week.

As such, The Guardian reports that Guardiola’s men have elected to allow Grealish to depart in the summer via a loan deal.

This decision has been taken because City do not want the saga to drag on throughout the summer. Instead, they want the player off their books as quickly as possible.

Jack Grealish: Who wants to sign the Man City star?

Despite Grealish’s recent struggles, there is no shortage of suitors willing to sign him and City’s stance in making him available for loan will only increase the interest of these clubs.

It is claimed that Aston Villa, Everton and Newcastle are all following the case of the wide player closely, while Grealish is seen as a possible replacement for Florian Wirtz at Bayer Leverkusen after he completes his blockbuster move to Liverpool.

Dropped for the Club World Cup in the USA, Grealish has likely played his last competitive game for City.
