Gyokeres makes Man Utd call

Gyokeres has made a final decision over a potential transfer to Manchester United this summer, reports from Portugal state.

The 27-year-old is one of the hottest strikers on the market this summer, but his transfer is becoming a controversial topic.

Since Man Utd made an approach to Sporting CP for the player, the Portuguese club have raised their asking price for the player, frustrating the agents of the Sweden international star and leading to clash with Frederico Varandas, the president of Los Leones.

But despite this war raging in the background, Gyokeres has made it clear that he will not move to just any club, with Record indicating he has now taken an “official” stance with regards Man Utd.

The Red Devils are in hot pursuit of the former Coventry No.9, but that has been brought to an abrupt end by the striker, who has told the Red Devils he is not interested in a transfer to Old Trafford currently.

The footballer's agents have officially informed Ruben Amorim's club that they are no longer an option for the forward.
- Record on Viktor Gyokeres

According to Record: “Viktor Gyokeres has said 'no' to Manchester United. The footballer's agents have officially informed Ruben Amorim's club that they are no longer an option for the forward.

“United made several contacts over the last week, but with Arsenal's advance, that possibility lost strength and, in the last few hours, it has completely fallen by the wayside.”

Sporting prepared to hike Gyokeres’ price

While Gyokeres has rejected a move to Man Utd, the ill-feeling behind the scenes only continues to grow.

Although there has been a gentleman’s agreement in place for Gyokeres to leave for a figure below his €100m release clause, Sporting are now reportedly willing to hold out for this figure if the behaviour of agent Hasan Cetinkaya does not improve.

Record reports: “If the Nordic player’s agent presents a €60m fixed offer - which is then rejected - he would be entitled to receive 10% of that amount (€6 million). This sum, it’s said behind the scenes, was the agreed minimum value for Viktor’s departure this summer, after staying on for another season in a Sporting shirt.

“Now, realising the deadlock in negotiations and the possibility that this clause could be triggered at any moment - Arsenal, for example, made an initial approach with a €55m fixed fee plus €10 million in add-ons - Sporting are also setting limits to their goodwill.

“In other words, if they don't sense willingness from the player’s representatives to negotiate on the terms they've put forward, the club is prepared to raise Gyokeres' price all the way up to the €100 million release clause.”

Sporting are seeking around €80m for Gyokeres, sources in Portugal suggest, but this will not necessarily all have to be paid upfront. It is suggested a deal worth an initial €70m with €10m following in bonuses could be seen as acceptable.
