Tottenham have reached an agreement to appoint Thomas Frank as their new manager, with Fabrizio Romano giving his trademark ‘here we go’ for the Brentford boss to replace Ange Postecoglou.

Spurs sacked Postecoglou last week despite the Australian leading the club to their first trophy in 17 years, with the club’s disastrous 17th place finish in the Premier League proving too tough to ignore.

The North London side were quick to move for Frank and Romano revealed that the Danish coach has agreed on contract terms and staff, with Tottenham agreeing to pay £10 million in compensation to Brentford.

Earlier reports from Portugal had claimed that Marco Silva was in advanced talks to leave Fulham for Tottenham but Frank was always understood to be Spurs’ first choice to succeed Postecoglou.

Frank is set to depart Brentford after nearly seven years in charge of the Bees, having initially joined the club as an assistant in 2016 before becoming head coach in October 2018.

The 51-year-old led Brentford to promotion from the Championship via the playoffs in 2021 and his side have impressed in the Premier League since then despite having one of the smallest budgets in the division.

Tottenham pounce on quick resolution to Postecoglou departure

Tottenham will be relieved to have wrapped up their managerial process in a short space of time, with only four days having passed since Postecoglou’s sacking.

Spurs have previously had history of sluggish appointments, with Frank set to be the club’s fourth permanent hire in the last four years.

However, Tottenham were determined to make an appointment with enough time to for their new manager to be able to settle in and build on their Champions League qualification for next season.

Postecoglou suffered the disappointment of being sacked despite winning the Europa League, having also led Spurs to the most defeats they have ever suffered in a Premier League campaign.
