Man Utd handed HUGE discount on €100m midfielder

Manchester United have reportedly rekindled their interest in Palmeiras midfielder Richard Rios ahead of the upcoming summer transfer window.
The 24-year-old was on Man Utd’s radar following his impressive form at the 2024 Copa America and Ruben Amorim’s side are now plotting a summer move for the Colombia international.
That is according to GiveMeSport, who state that Man Utd could sign Rios for a fee of just €24 million, despite the fact his current contract at Palmeiras reportedly includes a release clause worth €100m.
The Red Devils view Rios as a player capable of playing alongside Manuel Ugarte in a deep midfield role at Old Trafford, and he has been identified as a cheaper alternative to Atalanta star Ederson, who is also being pursued by the 13-time Premier League champions.
Rios has scored four goals and provided two assists in 28 appearances so far this campaign, while his Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) currently stands at just shy of €17m.
Man Utd on a shoe-string budget
Man Utd’s defeat to Tottenham Hotspur in the Europa League final is set to have a major impact on their ability in the transfer market this summer.
The Guardian have revealed that Amorim will have a budget of just €118m (£100m) to spend ahead of the 2025-26 campaign after the Red Devils missed out on European football entirely.

As a result, Man Utd will be required to generate funds through player sales and the club are therefore expected to sanction the permanent departures of Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho and Antony, in addition to the possible exits of both Kobbie Mainoo and Alejandro Garnacho.
The Red Devils are set to sign Wolverhampton Wanderers forward Matheus Cunha after agreeing to trigger his €74m release clause, while they are also pursuing a deal for Ipswich Town striker Liam Delap amid Rasmus Hojlund’s underwhelming form this campaign.
