Rashford’s Barcelona talks confirmed

Romano confirms the situation with Marcus Rashford’s move to Barcelona and says the Manchester United star is an option for the Camp Nou side – but he’s not the only one.

“The camp of Marcus Rashford were in a meeting with the Barcelona board. It took place in the morning, between the agents of Rashford and Barca. They’ve had a very good relationship since January. He’s a player Barca wanted to sign in the January transfer window, but it wasn’t possible. But the good feeling continues,” Romano tells his YouTube channel.

“What’s happened? Barcelona wanted to have one more meeting. Rashford’s not the only option on their list. They still like Luis Diaz and there are two more names on the list of Deco.

“It’s still early. A deal won’t happen today, tomorrow or this week. Forget about that. But Barca want to start conversations. I can guarantee Rashford will be interested. He dreams of playing in Spain one day and will be very keen on joining Barcelona.

“Man Utd are prepared to let him leave, but the price is £40 million (€48m). Barcelona may try something different, such as a loan with some obligation to buy under certain conditions.

“Keep an eye on this situation.”

Real Madrid close in on another signing

With Trent Alexander-Arnold all-but locked down, Real Madrid are close to signing Alvaro Carreras at left-back.

“Real Madrid have an agreement with Alvaro Carreras but they are also in contact with Benfica. It’s an important step. Now the clubs are in talks to get the deal done. Obviously, it will take some time,” Romano says.

“I’m told the relationship between the clubs is very good. Benfica appreciate the fact that Real Madrid decided to wait until the end of the cup final to approach the club.

“Alvaro Carreras wants to go to Real Madrid and he’s already informed them about the agreement. And he’s told Benfica about his intentions to go there.

“After Xabi Alonso, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Dean Huijsen, Real Madrid will continue their signings with Carreras.

“Real Madrid believe he’s the perfect player: a Spanish option, a player who can help offensively but in the defensive phase. He can be a very important player. Xabi Alonso was already following him at Bayer Leverkusen a year ago.”

Stiller to follow?

While reports have indicated that Los Blancos are also close to signing Angelo Stiller, Romano is much cooler on this deal.

“Angelo Stiller is one of several midfielders that Real Madrid are considering. But they’ve not made any formal move yet in terms of reaching an agreement or approaching Stuttgart. We’re not at that stage,” he explains.

“There was a story about Martin Zubimendi in the last 24 hours, but he’ll go to Arsenal. He’ll sign the contract and Arsenal will also extend the contract of Thomas Partey. That’s quite clear.

“But it’s important to say that Real Madrid appreciate Angelo Stiller. But there’s still many steps to cross.”

Kerkez to Liverpool advancing

Liverpool are another side who have been making headway in the transfer market, and a deal to sign Hungary left-back Milos Kerkez is close, Romano reports.

He says: “Milos Kerkez is very appreciated at Liverpool. I expect this deal to advance in the coming days.”

“The agreement is done with the player, the contract is ready and the player can’t wait to play for Liverpool. He’s convinced by their project. The feeling is very positive.

“Liverpool and Bournemouth are talking and the feeling is behind the scenes this deal is advancing.

“After Frimpong, with Wirtz ongoing, also the Kerkez deal is absolutely underway and the expectation is for this deal to advance fast in the next days. Liverpool are very busy.”

Chelsea leading the way for Delap?

Liam Delap continues to be a leading transfer target for several Premier League sides, with his €35 million (£30m) release clause making the Ipswich striker an attractive proposition. Romano details how the situation looks.

“Chelsea keep insisting for Liam Delap. They’ve met with the player’s representatives and Man Utd have also met with them. Everton and Newcastle tried, but Chelsea and Man Utd are insisting,” he reports.

“The Blues can offer Champions League football, Enzo Maresca is a big fan of the player, so Chelsea are working on this one as a priority deal at the moment, including Hugo Ekitike.

“For sure, Liam Delap remains an important target for Chelsea, who are prepared to pay the clause. But it depends on the player. Chelsea are waiting for the player’s feedback.

“Remember, Emanuel Emegha to Chelsea in 2026 is a concrete possibility. Reaching an agreement now, with the player joining next year. Emegha is for sure staying at Strasbourg now to play Conference League next season, to be the face of their attack, and in 2026, he’ll go to Chelsea.”
