Arsenal Transfer News Today: Ornstein gives Rodrygo, Sesko and Gyokeres update with deal 'ADVANCED'

All the latest Arsenal transfer news in one place, including updates on Thomas Partey, Viktor Gyokeres and Benjamin Sesko.
Arteta: I want to keep Partey at Arsenal
Mikel Arteta has said that he wants Thomas Partey to remain at Arsenal beyond the end of his current contract, explaining that the midfielder has experienced his best season since arriving at the club.
A source close to the situation stated that there is an agreement on the table that is likely to be signed, and that all parties are relatively relaxed over the situation at present. Barcelona had been interested in signing him.
Now Arteta has broken his silence on the future of the Ghana international star, explaining that he hopes Partey will put pen to paper soon after an exceptional campaign.
“In regards to Thomas, consistency-wise, it’s been his best season. I think the way he’s played, performed, his availability has been exceptional and he’s a really important player for us,” Arteta is quoted by The Telegraph when asked if Partey wants to remain at the club.

Trossard in ‘advanced talks’ over contract
Leandro Trossard is also in advanced talks to renew his contract with Arsenal, according to the BBC.
The 30-year-old is entering the final two years of his contract and has been subject to interest from Saudi Arabia but there is now ‘growing optimism’ that a deal is close.
Gunners sporting director Andrea Berta has led talks and accelerated negotiations in recent weeks and a conclusion is soon expected to be reached.
However, some reports have claimed that Trossard’s deal is not built around an extension but rather to increase the Belgian’s salary to bring him in line with his standing in Arteta’s squad.

Arsenal not prioritising Martinelli extension
Gabriel Martinelli’s future is also something which Arsenal are looking to secure, although tying the Brazilian down to a new deal isn’t considered a priority currently.
Martinelli’s current contract expires in 2027 but, with the Gunners having an option to extend it for a further year, they do not consider the matter urgent and no significant talks have been held as of yet, as per The Athletic.
However, with Arsenal looking to sign a winger this summer such as Nico Williams, Rodrygo or Jamie Bynoe-Gittens, Martinelli’s future could come into question if a significant offer is received for him.
Ornstein gives update on Arsenal striker search
David Ornstein has revealed that it is a straight shootout between Viktor Gyokeres and Benjamin Sesko as to which striker Arsenal sign this summer as well as an update on the pursuit of Rodrygo.
Both players have long-been tracked by Arsenal and will be available this summer but the Gunners have not firmed their interest as of yet, Ornstein told The Athletic.
“It seems Arsenal are deciding between which of those two strikers to pursue as their preferred target. They're both under consideration but it's hard to know who is higher,” Ornstein said.
“Rodrygo is obviously really well liked at Arsenal but that isn't surprising considering how good he is and it doesn't mean they will recruit him.”
