The Japanese sensation is one of the main names on Chelsea's goalkeeping shortlist for 2026 but a transfer in January now seems unlikely.

This is because Suzuki has suffered a displaced fracture of the third finger and the scaphoid bone in his left hand.

He received the injury during the 2-2 draw with Milan on Saturday evening.

The 23-year-old may now need surgey, which would mean he may not return until March.

Chelsea interest in Suzuki

Chelsea have been following the Japanese goalkeeping sensation for a while and have been considering a move in 2026.

The Blues are likely to sign a new number one, with AC Milan's Mike Maignan another option as his contract expires at the end of the season.

Suzuki famously rejected a five-year contract offer from Man Utd in 2023 as he did not want to join a club where he wouldn’t be first choice.

Instead, he eventually moved to Parma in 2024 where his value has skyrocketed.

The 23-year-old Suzuki has made 49 appearances for Parma since joining.

He has also been capped 21 times by Japan.

He is best known for his reflexes and shot-stopping ability, as well as his acrobatics.
