Liverpool will face competition from Xabi Alonso's Bayer Leverkusen in the race to sign Crysencio Summerville.

Summerville has been excellent for Leeds United this season, scoring 17 goals and providing eight assists across 39 Championship games so far.

Having wanted to appoint Alonso as their next head coach, Liverpool will now have to face the Spaniard in a transfer battle, according to Sport Bild.

Meanwhile, FootballTransfers understands that Newcastle and AC Milan are also interested in a move for Summerville.

Crysencio Summerville's future

Daniel Farke’s side currently sit third in the Championship and one point off an automatic place behind Ipswich Town.

Should Leeds achieve promotion, the side will look to offer their Dutch star a bumper new deal to remain at Elland Road - but this is not a guarantee that he will stay.

Liverpool are preparing for life without Jurgen Klopp and a factor in Summerville's decision will be who they replace the German with - and also if Mohamed Salah or Luis Diaz leave in the summer.

As for Newcastle, they are after someone who can play across the front-line and even as a No.10.

While, AC Milan believe that once Kylian Mbappe leaves, presumably to Real Madrid, that Paris Saint-Germain will push hard for Leao.

Consequently, the Italian giants have listed Summerville as a possible replacement for the Portugal international.

Sources inform us that Leeds will ask for around £45 million for Summerville but this could vary depending on the number of proposals that land on their table.
