'No future' - Man Utd flop 'like a foreign body' at loan club

Manchester United flop Donny van de Beek has 'no future' at loan club Eintracht Frankfurt, according to German media.

The Dutchman's hopes of finally turning his fortunes around have quickly dissipated. Van de Beek, having barely played over the past year and a half, departed Man Utd for the Bundesliga in January, but he has so far shown little to suggest that he is still the same player he was at Ajax.

At the time of the move, Eintracht Frankfurt actually felt they got a decent deal, loaning the 26-year-old until the end of the season with a buy-option of a little over €10 million. Had Van de Beek been able to recapture his former performance levels, it would have looked like a steal.

However, just as with fellow Man Utd loanee Jadon Sancho, Van de Beek's lack of game time in recent months has been blatantly evident. The Dutch midfielder has been completely anonymous for Eintracht and has only managed to actually get on the pitch in two of the Eagles' last five Bundesliga matches.

It is becoming increasingly clear that the Man Utd outcast has no future in Frankfurt.

Van de Beek 'like a foreign body'

Local paper Frankfurter Rundschau has now given an assessment of Eintracht's patchy recent form and it pulled no punches when it came to judging Van de Beek.

"Donny van de Beek...is not expected to have much of a future at Frankfurt. There is little to nothing to suggest that his loan stint will be made permanent," the report began.

"After years on the bench at Man Utd and Everton, the 26-year-old is barely able to keep up with the intensity of the Bundesliga, his lack of rhythm is noticeable in every game. He is like a foreign body, timid and hesitant, and error-prone to boot."

"It will be tough for Van de Beek in the coming weeks, although head coach Dino Toppmöller has not yet fully given up on him. Nevertheless, the question has to be asked: Why did Eintracht Frankfurt sign him in the first place?"
