Graham Potter is a surprise candidate to succeed Edin Terzic at Borussia Dortmund, according to a report.

The former Brighton and Chelsea boss has been out of work for a year since being sacked by the latter after a dismal half-season in charge. Potter has since been the subject of constant speculation, though very little in the way of concrete negotiations with any club has actually materialised.

The latest rumours have seen the 48-year-old associated with Man Utd as a potential replacement for Erik ten Hag. However, it seems now that the Red Devils will keep faith in the Dutchman and, if anything, Brentford boss Thomas Frank would be the preferred option in the event of a change, as revealed by FootballTransfers.

Red Devils legend Gary Neville is also not impressed with the links to the Chelsea flop, recently saying that Potter wouldn't be a good fit for the Old Trafford club. Now, the English coach is being linked with an entirely new job, and it would be an intriguing one, to say the least.

Potter to...Dortmund?

According to HITC, Potter has emerged as a potential candidate to take over at Borussia Dortmund next season. Head coach Edin Terzic is under pressure and will almost certainly get sacked if BVB miss out on Champions League football for the upcoming campaign.

Even if the Black and Yellow were to qualify for Europe's premier competition, the 41-year-old's job might be under threat with club bosses not entirely convinced by the work Terzic has been doing, particularly this season, which has been very underwhelming.

After links with Germany boss Julian Nagelsmann were shot down by German media, Potter is now a potential target for Dortmund, according to the above-mentioned. Eredivisie-winning Feyenoord coach Arne Slot is another potential option, it is claimed.

Potter is waiting for the right job to become available before returning to the game, but it is not clear what exactly the right job is for the 48-year-old. Perhaps Dortmund could be an intriguing option for the Englishman, who has worked abroad before - with great success - at Ostersund in Sweden.
