West Ham United boss David Moyes has revealed that he has been offered a new contract at the club, despite the club’s poor form this year.

The Hammers enjoyed a fantastic run of results during the Christmas period, picking up wins over Manchester United and Arsenal, but they have not won a single game in 2024 and have slid down the Premier League table as a result.

With three losses and three draws in their last six league matches, West Ham currently lie in ninth place in the English top flight standings and several sections of their fanbase believe Moyes is no longer the right man for the job.

‘Moyes Out’ banners were even held in the away end during their 2-0 loss versus Nottingham Forest last Saturday, with supporters making their feelings publicly known.

Moyes’ current contract at the London Stadium is due to expire at the end of the season, but the former Everton and Manchester United head coach has admitted that he could well extend his stay with the Hammers.

What has David Moyes said?

Ahead of West Ham’s Premier League match against Brentford on Monday, Moyes spoke to the media and admitted: “There’s a contract there for me. I’m the one who’s deciding at the moment that I want to wait, I want to wait until the end of the season.

“I want to make sure everything’s correct and that first and foremost we concentrate on this season and do the job. I’ve really enjoyed my four years here and one way or the other I’ll make sure I see my contract out.

“I’ve got to make sure that I think it’s the right thing for the club, got to make sure I think it’s the right thing for me and my family,” Moyes continued.

“At the moment, I’ve spoken to the board, I get on really well with them. I’ve had a fabulous four years. We’ve been talking about Europe and how you get to Europe in the first place is by being successful in the league. We’ll sort it out but I’m happy for it to wait.”

Moyes led West Ham to their first piece of major silverware since 1960 last season, as they won the Europa Conference League after a 2-1 win against Fiorentina in the final.
