Rasmus Hojlund’s first minute goal for Manchester United against Luton Town means he is now the youngest ever player to score in six consecutive Premier League games.

The Denmark international failed to score in his first 14 games in the competition, before netting against Aston Villa on Boxing Day, but he has now scored in each of his last six league matches.

At 21 years and 14 days old, Hojlund is now the youngest Premier League player to achieve this feat.

The record previously belonged to Joe Willock (21 years and 272 days old) after his electric start to life at Newcastle United after joining the Magpies on loan from Arsenal, but Hojlund overtook the English thanks to his strike against Luton.

Hojlund has now found the back of the net seven times in his last six Premier League games, while he also scored against Newport County in the FA Cup in late January.

Rasmus Hojlund vs Luton Town

Hojlund, 21, opened the scoring at Kenilworth Road inside the first minute after a poor error from Amari’i Bell.

With Luton on the attack, Casemiro launched the ball long in search of Alejandro Garnacho. The clearance was poorly dealt with by Bell, who passed the ball straight to Hojlund, enabling the Man Utd star to round Thomas Kaminski and net his sixth Premier League goal.

Hojlund doubled his tally just six minutes later with a neat finish using his chest. A Luke Shaw corner set-up Garnacho for a volley on the edge of the box and his strike was deflected into the back of the net via a lovely-cushioned touch by Hojlund.

The Denmark wonderkid now has 13 goals and two assists for Man Utd since joining the club from Atalanta for €73.9 million last summer.

Erik ten Hag appears to have finally found a system that best utilises Hojlund's strengths, with Garnacho playing off the right, Bruno Fernandes in an attacking midfield role and Marcus Rashford off the left.

Those three have been effective at creating chances for Hojlund, something that simply didn't happen during the early weeks of the season.

Furthermore, reports from Spain indicate that Hojlund has been touted as a possible alternative to Kylian Mbappe and Erling Haaland for Real Madrid if Los Blancos are unable to sign either player.

Mbappe is, however, expected to move to the Santiago Bernabeu on a free transfer when his Paris Saint-Germain contract expires this summer.
