Manchester United are interested in Juventus defender Bremer, according to a report.

The Brazilian is enjoying a very good season both with his club and on a personal level as Juventus surprisingly top the Serie A standings, while Bremer has established himself as one of the division's best defenders.

This has, naturally, aroused the interest of other European big-hitters. In the summer, the 26-year-old was already associated with a Premier League switch, with Tottenham reportedly keen on securing his signature.

Instead of departing, the centre-back decided to remain with the Bianconeri and he signed a new long-term deal in December, keeping him at the club until 2028. That fresh contract, however, has done little to deter his suitors.

Interest in the Brazilian remains and now Di Marzio reports that Man Utd have joined the list of interested parties and that they could make an offer in the summer.

Man Utd's defensive overhaul

This comes after the news that Erik ten Hag is plotting a major defensive overhaul in the next transfer window. With the impending investment of Sir Jim Ratcliffe set to hit the Red Devils' bank account before the summer, the Dutchman will have plenty of money to spend.

Depending on Juventus' valuation, Bremer could be seen as a viable alternative to the likes of Matthijs de Ligt, Jarrad Branthwaite and Jean-Clair Todibo, who have all been linked with Man Utd in recent months.

Given that he only extended his deal, he won't come cheap, yet he currently boasts an Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) of just €32.3 million, meaning that he could be cheaper than someone like De Ligt, who has accumulated north of €150m in transfer fees throughout his career.

It remains to be seen, however, whether Juventus would even be open to sanctioning a departure, though given the state of their finances in recent years, they may be left without much of a choice.
